Itron Begins Deployment of 1 Million Communication Modules for ATCO Gas

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash.—April 12, 2011—Itron Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today that it has begun installing the first of 1 million 100G Datalogging gas ERT® modules for Alberta-based ATCO Gas. Over the course of the four year deployment, Itron will manage all aspects of the effort, including project management and endpoint installation.

Itron's ChoiceConnect™ gas metering solution will be used to leverage the 100G modules and their proven remote data collection technology to automate the meter reading process and collect reliable monthly reads. This technology improves billing accuracy and enhances customer convenience, while creating significant operational efficiencies and reducing potential safety risks for field workers.
